(Southern Federal University)

The article is devoted to the research of the specifics of the formation and functioning of the semiotic space of metatextuality in a discourse of literary criticism. Purpose of the research is substantiation of the ontological status of metatextuality as a defining characteristic of semiotic space that organizes literary critical discourse. The main methods of analysis were the comparative method, the method of analysis and synthesis, semantic analysis, and philological interpretation. It has been established that metatextuality is one of the structural constituents of literary critical discourse, while metatexts and metatextual operators become a condition for the formation of the integrity of literary critical statements, without being their semantic component. In the discourse of literary criticism of N.A. Zabolotsky metatextuality forms the foundation for the structuring of discursive semiotic space, revealing multilevel relationships between the author, critic and reader. The isomorphism of the semiotic space of metatextuality in the discourse
of literary criticism and the linguistic consciousness of its addressee is objectifi ed by evaluation, enhanced by metaphorization, the use of literary and philosophical terms, as well as dialogicity and self-interpretation.
