The article is devoted to the analysis of the functioning of myth in the dialogically presented philosophy of Plato. Are myths related to the peculiarities of the dialogical form of representation of philosophy, or are the patterns of functioning of mythological" statements related to other forms of statements (logical)? What, in fact, we can call a myth in Plato's dialogues is any statement with a reference to the divine or "divine man" (εεοονννρ) or exclusively certain plots. The theopoetic methodology, which most fully reveals the functioning of these plots, should help us answer all these questions. The author's view is based on a hypothesis according to which the creative method of the philosopher Plato is based on a deep layer of religious imagination and mythological poetry.
Today, theopoetics can act as an additional tool and methodological guideline for the actual consideration of Plato's philosophical creativity, in addition to the main historical and philosophical approaches. The authors consistently present the characteristic research trends of the last 30-35 years, where original steps were taken towards revising the classical view of Plato the philosopher, a feature of these approaches was the vision of Plato the writer, Plato the playwright and Plato the poet.
