This paper is based on the analysis of the archive sources and materials of the State Archive of Krasnodar region (some of them go into the scientific turnover for the first time), periodicals issued abroad and diary notes of V.G. Naumenko. The author during his research work was using historical comparative and comparative genetic methods.
V.G. Naumenko happened to be abroad due to the Crimean evacuation of the Russian Army of P.N. Wrangel. During the emigration he was elected ataman of the Kuban Cossack Army. While taking that post of the Army ataman he had been paying great attention to the preservation of the Kuban Cossack army abroad and preventing the Cossack emigrants’ assimilation. In a short time after the Second World War V.G. Naumenko together with family moved from Europe to the USA which in fact became the centre of the Cossack émigré. The Army Ataman had done a lot for saving the regalia of the Kuban Cossack Army. V.G. Naumenko was leading active fight against his political opponents from among the Cossack emigrants – independents and Cossackians. After leaving the post of the Army ataman V.G. Naumenko continued active work. He was fighting elections ataman of the Kuban Cossack Army, publishing journals, bulletins, documents of historical and educational character.
Thus V.G. Naumenko for almost all postwar period of his life was doing active socio-political and cultural educational work. He did a lot for preservation of the Kuban Cossack Army abroad not only while being the Army ataman but also after leaving that post.
